Trends For Autumn and Winter

on

Determining the trends for the next two seasons is a delicate exercise. Indeed, considering hairstyles both as a product and as a catalyst for new looks requires choosing a precise analytical angle. In the following article, we choose to focus on hairstyles as a result of personal tastes that, by the same token, become those of a community—an approach we borrow from Guillaume Erner's book, Sociology of Trends : "Indeed, trends are formed by these aggregated individual choices that constitute collective taste" (2009). Thus, we conducted a meticulous analysis of the looks recommended by different hairdressers across North America (and sometimes South America) and wish to present here the common traits that would correspond to this "collective taste."

Blow-dries and updos

When it comes to updos and hairstyles, polished, shiny, and smooth hair is often seen. We can mention @hairbyruslan and @jennychohair, whose ponytails and buns are characterized by their shine and sleek effect.

Voluminous hairstyles with clearly defined movement are also in vogue. The list of examples is long; but a quick look at the accounts @cesar4styles, @glencocoforhair, and @pinklablonde will give you the idea!

Finally, textured wave hairstyles, somewhere between beach waves and a glamorous look, are taking over the news feeds. @Anhcontran, @andrew.gilbertt, and @milesjeffrieshair can give you a glimpse.

Cut

These cuts are often paired with a fringe, dubbed "face-framing fringe" (Noble, 2025) in a Vogue article. @buddywporter's take on the concept perfectly! Bobs and lobs with plenty of texture and movement are gaining popularity, as seen on the accounts of @glencocoforhair, @jacbhkhan, @sandy_hogue_coiffeur, @grahamnation, and @domdom. On these same accounts, we can see that face-framing layers are taking over the dashboards.

Finally, for curly hair, volume and bangs are the focus of specialists in these textures, to name just a few: @styledbysabrina, @slickback_buttahtoast and @evanjosephcurls.

Coloring

When it comes to hair color, while warm tones are increasingly common, it's more of an overall "effect" that's gaining popularity. Analyzing photos from colorists like @taya.hair, @nmvhair, @kelvy_brulee, @johnnyramirez, @minkimcolorist, and others, we see results that combine low-maintenance and effortless style . Indeed, coloring techniques aim to harmonize with natural bases, as if striving to both blend and reveal the nuances.

Finally, identifying the recurring themes in hairdressers' work helps determine the trends for the coming seasons. Whether it's for blow-drying, updos, cuts, or coloring, what ultimately unites them, in our opinion, is mastery of technique. For hairdressers, precision of movement remains a reliable way to guarantee results, especially in an era where social media constantly provides standards and references to which both clients and professionals are somewhat forced to abide by.
